quick thoughts on Mark

Mark 4:21 – 5:43

a lamp on a stand
- to him who appropriates more truth in his life, God will reveal more truth. but to him who lets truth pass by, even truth of salvation will be taken away.

the parable of the growing seed
- “a man scatters seed on the ground. night and day whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he doesn’t know how” (mark 4:27)
- “so neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” (1 cor 3:7)

the parable of the mustard seed
- the power contained in the gospel message itself, and the power of God to make things grow and bear fruit

Jesus calms the storm
- waves and demons alike obey Jesus’ command “Quiet! Be still!”

the healing of a demon-possessed man
- imagine 2000 pigs rushing into the river!
- the people pleaded with Jesus to leave the region in fear of what they could not explain. r we like this as well?
- he was allowed to go home and tell how much the Lord had done for him cos he lived in decapolis (gentile area of 10 free cities, less danger of creating a jewish crisis over Jesus’ Messiahship before He completed his ministry)

a dead girl and a sick woman
- Lord, pls heal Sharon with such grace, juz as how you went with jairus the moment he pleaded with you (“pls come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live. So Jesus went with him.”) and how you healed the bleeding woman as she reached out & touched Your cloak. how U addressed her as “daughter” & not merely “woman”. pls help Sharon to reach out to you in faith. help me to keep praying for her in faith. that we may truly hear you say “your faith has healed you. go in peace and be freed from your suffering”! after saying “don’t be afraid, juz believe!”
